What does it cost to organize a corporate padel tournament?

What are the real costs of a corporate padel tournament? Court hire, catering and organizing costs: an honest overview of what to expect.

Organizing a corporate padel tournament sounds complex, but the cost structure is simpler than you might think. The biggest variables are the venue and the group size. The rest is fairly predictable.

Court hire: the biggest expense

Padel clubs rent out courts by the hour, usually including lighting. The price varies a lot by region and type of club. In and around larger cities, court prices are higher than in smaller towns. A rough guide:

Indoor court: €20 to €35 per hour per court. Outdoor court: €12 to €22 per hour per court. Exclusive hire of the entire venue: on request, often at a discount.

So for a three-hour tournament on four courts, you'll pay roughly €240 to €420 in court hire. Many clubs offer package rates if you rent the whole venue or book a fixed time block.

Catering and extras

Most padel clubs have a food and drink offering. You can go for a simple round of drinks afterwards or a full package with lunch, drinks and dinner. Budget €15 to €40 per person, depending on what you want.

Prizes for participants: optional, but they add a lot to the experience. Think a bottle of wine for the winner, sports gear or a gift voucher. Budget €10 to €30 per person if you hand out three prizes.

Organizing costs

If you organize everything by hand, the organizing costs are zero, but the time investment is high. Keeping spreadsheets, working out the pairings, entering scores: a tournament of 20 people quickly takes half a day of prep and constant attention on the day itself.

With a platform like Slams it's a different story. Participants register themselves, the system automatically builds the pairings and the schedule, and scores are entered on the phone by the players themselves. The organizer stays in control but doesn't have to do any admin. The cost of the software is negligible compared to the time it saves.

Total overview for a tournament of 20 people

Court hire (5 courts, 3 hours): €300 to €525. Catering (drinks + snacks): €400 to €600. Prizes: €100 to €200. Organizing (software): minimal. Total: €800 to €1,325, so €40 to €66 per person.

That's comparable to other team-building activities, but with higher active participation and a concrete result (a final standing) that makes the day memorable.

How do you lower the cost?

Ask the club for a half-day package. Clubs prefer to rent in fixed blocks. Day rates are often lower than booking loose hours. Organize on a weekday. Friday afternoons and weekends are more expensive. A Tuesday afternoon can be 20 to 30 percent cheaper. Separate the catering from the court hire. That way you can choose which caterer you order from instead of being tied to the club's food and drink offering.
