What is it?

What is King of the Court?

King of the Court is a dynamic format where teams are constantly moving between courts. Winners climb to a higher court (closer to the "king's court"), losers drop down a court and get a new partner. The best players automatically rise to the top.

How does it work?
  1. 1
Spread across the courtsTeams are spread across all courts, from court 1 (the king's court) down to the lowest court. Two pairs are ready to play on each court.
  2. 2
Play and moveThe winning team climbs to the next court up. The losing team drops down a court and switches partners.
  3. 3
The king's court is the goalThe winning team on the king's court stays put and defends its position. They are "King of the Court" for as long as they keep winning.
  4. 4
A queue when courts are fullIs a team ready to go but every court is taken? They are first in line the moment a court frees up.
  5. 5
Points per match wonEvery match won earns points. Winning on a higher court is worth more points. The overall standings decide the winner.

Frequently asked questions

Frequently asked questions

At least 2 courts. With more courts, more teams can play at the same time and waiting times are shorter. Count on 4โ€“6 players per active court, plus a small queue.

Every match won earns points. The "king's court" usually earns more points than the lower courts. When the event is over, the player with the highest points total wins.

Slams keeps a queue and fills empty courts as soon as a team is available that has had enough rest. A court sitting empty for a moment is better than players having to play nonstop.
